Statesmen of the Week: Abraham Arroyo and Emma Lawson

Oskaloosa--Baseball player Abraham Arroyo (Sr., Camuy, P.R., Wellness and Recreation) and women's golfer Emma Lawson (Jr., Rossville, Ind., Exercise Science) have been named Statesmen of the Week for the week of April 22-28, presented by Gardner-Collier Jewelry.

Arroyo, who has been plagued by injury this season, got back on the field last week against Grand View.  On Thursday, he was 1-for-2 in his team's series-opening victory.

Two days later, the senior erupted for a career game, going 5-for-5 with four RBIs and four runs scored.  Arroyo had a home run in a win that clinched a playoff berth for the navy and gold.

Lawson had the best week of her collegiate links career last Monday and Tuesday at the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship.

The junior managed a career-low 54-hole score of 236 (81-81-74) to tie for second.  Lawson headed the field in both par-4 scoring (+7) and pars (34), while also placing fourth in par-5 scoring at +4.  She managed three birdies (sixth overall) during the week as well.
