Athletic Bands

The "Pride of Penn' marching band is becoming an icon for college marching bands in the state of Iowa. Being only one of two private universities in the state with a marching band program, we are setting the standard for other small universities to follow, and we are also offering more in scholarships to participate than any other university or college.

The Marching Band is a Corps Style program as part of the "Athletic Bands" Department, while the other ensembles include: Pep Bands, Winter Guard and Winter Drum Line. The Athletic Bands Department is separate from the Music Department, sharing interests, yet keeping our options and scholarships separate. The Music Department does offer the Music Education K-12 degree and the BA in Music degree.

Our Mission: To provide these Athletic Band opportunities for students of all majors to continue their post-high school enjoyment of the Marching Arts in addition to the optional standard music ensembles of Concert, Jazz and Choir, and for the experience to benefit future music educators and build great memories for all.

Scholarships are available for members participating in the Athletic Bands. These scholarships are available to non-music majors, and are renewable each year.
