Statesmen of the Week: Trenton Giese and Emma Brandt

Oskaloosa--Shotgun sports athlete Trenton Giese (Fr., Muskego, Wis., Mechanical Engineering) and women's soccer player Emma Brandt (So., Cologne, Germany, Sports Management) have been named the Statesmen of the Week for October 7-13, presented by Gardner-Collier Jewelry.

Giese led the shotgun sports team to third out of 27 teams at the ACUI Fall Central Midwest Conference Championships last Friday through Sunday, where he placed second in the men's High Overall Athlete standings. His impressive performance included a combined score of 441-for-450, with standout results: earning 48-for-50 in Super Sporting, 49-for-50 in Doubles Skeet, 49-for-50 in Doubles Trap, 98-for-100 in Skeet, 99-for-100 in Trap, and 98-for-100 after placing second in a shootoff in Sporting Clays.

Brandt provided all of the women's soccer offense in a 2-2 tie against Graceland on Wednesday, posting both of the Statesmen's goals. She recorded five shot attempts against Graceland and added another tally against Park Saturday.
