Loring and Lange Claim Player of the Month Laurels
Oskaloosa—The William Penn University Athletics Booster Club has announced its October Players of the Month.
Football player Destynd Loring (Jr., Charleston, S.C., Sports Management) earned the male laurel, and women's golfer Olivia Lange (Sr., Porta Westfalica, Germany, Business Management) claimed the female honor. The laurel is the first in Loring's career, while Lange is now a three-time recipient.
Loring had a big month rushing the ball, accumulating 280 yards and six touchdowns across three games. His best performance came in a win over Clarke, where he finished with 157 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Loring also contributed two touchdowns against Peru State. He was a one-time Heart of America Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week during October.
Lange competed in two tournaments (four rounds) in October, averaging an impressive 78.8 strokes per round with a low round of 75. She opened with a second-place effort at the TPC Deere Run Invitational, shooting a 243 (82-80-81) and helping the Statesmen to a runner-up finish. She then closed out her fall campaign with a crown at the Heart Preview, leading the 45-player field at 151 (76-75). Lange's outstanding play also earned her two Heart Golfer of the Week awards.
