Statesmen of the Week: Cameron Hargrove and Esther Kolawole

Oskaloosa--Men's wrestler Cameron Hargrove (Sr., Bolingbrook, Ill., Sports Management) and women's wrestler Esther Kolawole (Fr., Akure, Nigeria) have been named Statesmen of the Week for January 20-26, an honor presented by Gardner-Collier Jewelry.

Hargrove showcased his determination and skill at the Missouri Valley Invitational on Friday, earning fourth place at 165 pounds during an outstanding performance. Ranked No. 14 in the NAIA, the senior posted a 5-1 record, including two technical falls and a pin victory. His weekend highlight was a win over No. 13 Bridger Hall of Providence (Mont.). His only setback was a tightly contested 8-6 loss to No. 4 Dylan Whitt of Grand View in the semifinals.

Kolawole delivered a commanding performance at the Indiana Tech Open on Saturday, capturing the 138-pound title with a perfect 5-0 record. Her run included four technical falls, underscoring her dominance on the mat. In a premier semifinal clash, she defeated NAIA No. 1 Waipuilani Estrella-Beauchamp of Providence (Mont.) with an 11-0 victory. Kolawole capped her day by edging Taina Fernandez (Unattached) in a 5-3 finals win to claim the championship.
