Statesmen of the Week: Hector Dominguez and Isabelle Hawley

Oskaloosa--Baseball player Hector Dominguez (Jr., Fontana, Calif., Exercise Science) and women's wrestler Isabelle Hawley (Jr., Winchester, Calif., Sociology) have been named Statesmen of the Week for February 24-March 2, an honor presented by Gardner-Collier Jewelry.

Dominguez played a pivotal role in helping the Statesmen achieve a 5-1 record over the past week. During Monday's doubleheader sweep of Waldorf, he registered four hits and two runs in six at-bats. On Saturday, in the team's victories over Dickinson State and Concordia (Neb.), Dominguez continued his strong performance. Against Dickinson State, he recorded one hit and drove in an RBI. Then, against Concordia, he delivered another hit, contributed three RBIs, and added two runs. On Sunday, Dominguez tallied three more hits in a doubleheader against Dickinson State and Concordia.

Hawley played a crucial role in helping the team secure a total of 173 points to claim the runner-up spot at the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship Saturday. She earned a spot on the podium, finishing third with a 3-1 record that included one fall and one technical fall. Her strong showing in the competition earned her a well-deserved berth in the NAIA National Championship.
