Statesmen of the Week: Bradley Soto and Madie Anderson
Oskaloosa--Baseball player Bradley Soto (Jr., Davenport, Fla., Business Management) and softball player Madie Anderson (Sr., Mount Pleasant, Iowa, Elementary Education) have been named Statesmen of the Week for March 24-30, an honor presented by Gardner-Collier Jewelry.
Soto put together an impressive performance over the weekend, posting a .611 on-base percentage across 15 at-bats against Central Methodist. He racked up eight hits, drove in six runs, and blasted two home runs, scoring six times in total. On Friday's first game, he homered once, scored a run, and drove in two RBIs. In the second game of the day, the junior launched another home run and contributed two hits, helping secure a 10-9 win. Saturday's games saw Soto continue his hot streak. In the first game, he collected three hits, one RBI, and crossed the plate twice. In the second game, he recorded two hits, drove in two runners, and scored two more runs.
Anderson delivered a stellar pitching performance in Saturday's matchup against Benedictine, leading her team to a dominant 5-0 victory. Over seven innings, she struck out four batters and allowed only one hit. With zero walks, no errors, and no earned runs, Anderson's flawless outing was key to the team's shutout win.
