WPU Ends Campaign in High-Scoring Battle Against Pioneers

Olathe, Kan.--The Statesmen men's basketball team failed to keep up with #15 MidAmerica Nazarene in a fast-paced contest in Heart of America Athletic Conference action Saturday.

WPU (6-22, 5-19 Heart) lost the shooting battle 62.8%-47.3% and was also outrebounded 47-35.

The visitors unfortunately never led in the contest and could not slow down the Pioneers (24-4, 22-2 Heart) who led 63-36 at intermission.

Five Statesmen reached double figures, including Ontario Chapman (Sr., Evanston, Ill., Psychology) with 16 points on 5-for-8 shooting.  The trio of Jaz Farrell (Sr., Miramar, Fla., Interdisciplinary Studies), Manny Hammonds (Fr., Des Moines, Iowa, New Media), and Cobey Horn (Fr., Houston, Texas) all managed 15 points, while Willie Anderson (Jr., Norristown, Pa., Applied Computer Science) tacked on 13 more.

Larontae Mormant (Sr., Bloomington, Minn., Business Management) was next with eight points in addition to a squad-high six rebounds.  The duo of Marcellus Bryant (Fr., Inglewood, Calif., Exercise Science) and Cam Marshall (So., San Diego, Calif., Sports Management) managed five points in the season finale as well.  Bryant also tallied five assists, while Marshall grabbed three steals.
