
Statesmen Struggle at William Woods Invite
Oskaloosa—The William Penn men's golf team took part in the William Woods Spring Invite last Monday and Tuesday, adding some more experience in the spring tenure of their season, playing at a par 72 course.
WPU finished 14th out of 16 teams with a two day score of 790. Central Methodist won the tournament with a team score of 726 in the event.
Mateo Quiroga of Missouri Valley tied in first with Justin Schipper for co-champions of the event, recording a score of 135 (nine-under) over the two-day tournament.
Spencer Tucker (Sr., Oskaloosa, Iowa, Sports Management) finished tied for fourth place with a score of 142 (71-71), shooting two-under par.
Bailey Johnston (So., Hastings, Minn., Business Management) recorded a 152 (76-76) tying for 25th place, while Cameron Johnson (Sr., Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Business Management) reported a score of 161 (77-84).
Jonathan Jarvis (Sr., Burlington, Iowa, Business Management) finished his rounds with scores of 83 and 81 (164) for a placing of 77th in the tournament.
Playing as an individual, Danny McQuade (Jr., Tucson, Ariz., Political Science) finished 83rd with 171 (86-85).
Next Up: William Penn will have a few weeks off before hosting the William Penn Mike Fluff Cowan Invitational on April 17th and 18th.
