Statesmen Down to No. 7 in First Rating

Oskaloosa--The Statesmen men's lacrosse team dipped two spots as the NAIA released its first top-10 poll Wednesday.

WPU (1-1) lost a pair of positions, falling to No. 7 with 36 points.  It marks the eighth-straight poll in which the navy and gold are ranked.

The Statesmen opened the season with games on back-to-back days, easily defeating Michigan-Dearborn 24-8 last Monday, but then falling to now-No. 6 Madonna (Mich.) 19-17 last Tuesday.

William Penn leads two Heart of America Athletic Conference programs in the ranking as Benedictine is unofficially 11th in the nation.

Keiser (Fla.) continues its hold on No. 1 with 60 points and all six first-place votes.  Webber International (Fla.) is second, while Reinhardt (Ga.) is third.  Cumberlands (Ky.) and Indiana Tech, which are tied for fourth, round out the top five.

The Statesmen travel to Quincy, Ill. next Wednesday to face NCAA Division II Quincy in non-conference play at 7 p.m.
