Bio
Garrett Brunsvold is in his third year as Offensive Analyst.
In his first two seasons with the Statesmen, Brunsvold has helped the program to historic offensive campaigns, including ranking high nationally in numerous categories. He has guided numerous NAIA All-Americans with Breck Putzier and Boston Romero both having two honors. Putzier has also been named Heart Player of the Year twice after leading the NAIA in goals, assists, and points in both 2023 and 2024. Wyatt Christiansen was named Heart Newcomer of the Year as well in 2023.
The WPU offense again led the country in goals and assists in 2024. The offense averaged 20.1 goals, while seven individuals garnered All-America status. The team, which was ranked as high as #4 (finished #5) won its first-ever Heart Championship title to qualify for its first-ever NAIA National Invitational.
Brunsvold comes to WPU after coaching Waukee High School (Iowa) to its best record in program history. He guided the squad to its first winning season and an appearance in the state championship game.
He also headed the Team 36 club team in Minnesota from 2019-2022, helping it to the highest high school titles at the Top Flight tournament in Indiana and Middle of the Map event in Kansas.
A graduate of Lindenwood University (Master’s of Business Administration degree in 2019), Brunsvold was a three-year member of a program that was ranked as high as #4 in the country. He scored 38 goals with 12 assists in his career.
A native of Smithtown, N.Y., Brunsvold attended Smithtown High School West. He played on the #1 public school in the state (#3 in the country) in 2014, and later that year began coaching for Smithtown Youth Lacrosse.
