Statesmen Shut Out in Defeat

Statesmen Shut Out in Defeat

Olathe, Kan.--The William Penn men's soccer team had more opportunities than its ranked foe on Saturday, but could not make them count as it fell 3-0 to #12 MidAmerica Nazarene in a Heart of America Athletic Conference matchup.

William Penn (7-5, 4-4 Heart) held a 12-10 advantage in the shots over the Pioneers (8-2-3, 5-1-2 Heart), including a 7-5 margin in shots on goal.

Unfortunately, only the home team was able to score in the bout, doing so for the first time with just 30 seconds left until halftime.

While WPU continued to be stymied offensively, MNU added goals in the 59th and 78th minutes to secure the shutout victory.

Chanin Olandin (So., Oslo Norway, Sports Management) topped the Statesmen with four shots, while the trio of Milton Magana (Sr., Los Angeles Calif., Sociology), Maxime Eschemann (Fr., Saignelegier, Switzerland, Business Management), and Thomas Jensen (Fr., Aalgaard, Norway, Sports Management) also added two tries each in the loss.

Up Next: The Statesmen will have a week off before hosting Briar Cliff in a non-conference matchup next Saturday at 5 p.m.
