Oskaloosa--The Statesmen men's soccer team secured an impressive 4-0 victory over Olivet Nazarene in Thursday's non-conference match.

William Penn registered six attempts in the first half, while Olivet Nazarene (2-1) only managed two, but neither team was able to score.
WPU finally broke through in the 58th minute with Sven Hennenberg (Fr., Dortmund, Germany) netting a goal off a pass from Miguel Menendez (So., Oviedo, Spain, Wellness and Recreation).
Just four minutes later, Hugo Cornish (So., Sydney, Australia, Business Management) doubled the lead, scoring off an assist from Ricardo da Silva (Jr., Vitoria, Brazil, Business Management).
John-Joe Mullane (Jr., Kent, England) then sent a pass to da Silva, who netted William Penn's third goal at the 71:58 mark.
Off a pass from Menendez, Albert Feixas (Fr., Santa Coloma de Farners, Spain, Exercise Science) capped off William Penn's scoring.
The Statesmen utilized their depth, with 22 individuals earning playing time and nine players contributing with a shot.
Connor O'Reilly (Sr., Letterkenny, Ireland, General Accounting), Cornish, and Fexias led the charge with three shots each, while Hennenberg tallied two attempts.
"It was a team effort," Head Coach Simon Brown said. "As the game goes on, our style is to increase pressure and progressively score more goals. The opposition became tired, and we caught a second wind."
