William Penn Defeats Graceland With Two Goals from O’Reilly

Lamoni--William Penn men's soccer team claimed a 2-1 victory over Graceland Wednesday in Heart of America Athletic Conference action.

#8 WPU (12-1-1, 6-1 Heart) dominated the offensive effort against the Yellowjackets (6-3-4, 2-3-2 Heart) with a 16-5 shot surplus.

Despite recording eight shots in the first half, the Statesmen failed to add a goal to the scoreboard.

Finally, at the 51:56 mark, Connor O'Reilly (Sr., Letterkenny, Ireland, General Accounting) posted the match's first goal off a long kick from Sean Bohan (Sr., Dublin, Ireland, Business Management).

Unfortunately, the Yellowjackets notched the equalizer five minutes later.

O'Reilly, who provided all of his squad's offense, managed the game-winning goal in the 70th minute. Rob Stoop (Fr., Bosch en Duin, The Netherlands, Exercise Science) recorded the assist with a long pass from just inside the sideline.

Luigi Mongan (Sr., Manchester, England, Business Management) led WPU's offense with four attempts, while O'Reilly and Hugo Cornish (So., Sydney, Australia, Business Management) posted three tallies apiece.

Next Up: William Penn hosts Park at Drost Field in Oskaloosa Saturday at noon in Heart action. The game will also serve as Senior Day.
