
Bohan and Sears on NAIA’s First Team, O’Reilly Collects Third-Team Laurel
Oskaloosa--Three members of the Statesmen men's soccer team garnered national recognition after the program's history-making campaign as the NAIA announced its 2024 All-America teams Monday.
Sean Bohan (Sr., Dublin, Ireland, Business Management) and Edan Sears (Sr., Telford, England, Sports Management) were both selected to the 15-person First Team, while Connor O'Reilly (Sr., Letterkenny, Ireland, General Accounting) was one of 27 players to earn Third-Team honors. An additional 15 players were named to the Second Team.
Both Third-Team selections in 2023, Sears and Bohan are now two-time recipients. O'Reilly's accolade is his first. The three honorees are the most in a season in WPU history.
William Penn now has eight All-Americans all-time with seven coming since 2019.
The trio helped the Statesmen to a national runner-up finish, a Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship crown, and a plethora of team and individual records.
Bohan, who did not play until the sixth game of the year (injury), finished with a 16-2-3 record that included 57 saves and a 0.76 Goals Against Average. He posted nine shutouts and recorded 17 games with one or fewer goals permitted.
The senior managed three shutouts during WPU's run at nationals.
Sears complemented Bohan in a defensive unit that only allowed 21 total goals (0.81 per game) and ended 2024 with 12 shutouts. Of his squad's 26 total games, the Statesmen limited opponents to one or fewer goals in 20 of those contests.
The central defender also scored one goal with one assist.
O'Reilly controlled the midfield for the navy and gold, while scoring eight goals with six assists. The senior tallied two game-winning goals and converted on his lone penalty kick.
Emilio Cazares of Mobile (Ala.) was named NAIA Player of the Year.
