Griffen, Hansen Win Crowns at GVU Field Meet

Des Moines--A handful of William Penn field athletes returned to competition Wednesday by battling at the Grand View Field Meet.

Keaten Griffen (Fr., Longview, Texas) claimed a win in the men's pole vault with a height of 12-9.5, while Landon Hansen (Sr., Newton, Iowa) also took home gold in the shot put at 47-4.25.

Jeremiah Conteh (Jr., Shorewood, Wis., English) placed fourth in the weight throw (47-4.25), while Jace Lukefahr (Sr., Newton, Iowa, Mechanical Engineering) was fifth in both the shot put (44-5.25) and weight throw (45-3).

Steven Murray (Sr., Missouri Valley, Iowa, Sociology) recorded a top-half finish in the shot put as well, taking eighth at 41-1.

Erica Martin (Jr., Detroit, Mich.) represented the Statesmen on the women's side and was third in the shot put at 40-7.

Next Up: William Penn travels to Maryville, Mo. Friday and Saturday to compete in the Northwest Missouri State Open.
