Team, Quartet Collect USTFCCCA All-Academic Awards
Oskaloosa--The William Penn men's track and field team excelled in and out of the classroom as it garnered 2024 All-Academic recognition from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association recently.
The award is given to teams who owned a 3.0 cumulative Grade Point Average among all individuals listed on their eligibility paperwork. A total of 49 male squads won the laurel with the Statesmen, coached by Victoria Vinokur, posting a 3.06 GPA.
Four individuals also received individual distinction. D'Artagnon Beaver (Jr., Rockford, Ill., Human Services) and Jonah Heckenberg (Sr., Stockport, Iowa, Business Management) led the way with 4.0 GPAs, while Tahj Ferguson (Sr., Hartford, Conn., Psychology) (3.27) and Showalter Johnson (Jr., Nassau, Bahamas, New Media) (3.25) eclipsed the standard as well.
To be eligible for the accolade, a student-athlete must own a 3.25 GPA and be a national qualifier (automatic or provisional standard) during the 2023-2024 school year.
