William Penn Shooters Put Up Big Numbers During Summer

Oskaloosa--Several members of the Statesmen shotgun sports team lit up the scoreboards this summer as they prepared for another big season in the navy and gold.

Tanner Muff (Jr., Lincoln, Neb., Public Accounting) took the High Overall Athlete trophy at the Iowa State National Sporting Clays Association Championships in the main event with a score of 185-for-200.  He was the only participant to shoot better than 90-for-100 during the two-day main event that included 131 shooters.

Wyatt Kresser (So., Independence, Iowa, Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management) took second place in the main event in "A" class and won first place in Super Sporting in "A" class at the Iowa State NSCA Championships.

Brianna Thompson (Jr., Campbellsport, Wis., Psychology) also scored big in Amateur Trap Association competitions.  She was the Wisconsin State ATA Lady 1 High All-Around and High Overall Athlete champion.  Additionally, she took the ATA Central Zone Lady 1 Championship crown.  Essentially, Thompson earned the right to be called the best female Trap shooter in the region within the ATA.  For her excellence, she garnered Lady 1 All-American team honors for being ranked top 25 in the country.
