
Statesmen Place 16th in First of Two Las Vegas Events
Las Vegas, Nev.--The William Penn women's bowling team opened its trip to Sin City with a tough outing at the Glenn Carlson Las Vegas Invitational Sunday and Monday.
WPU finished 16th out of 28 teams in qualifying with 7,850 pins in nine regular games. Wichita State (Kan.) won qualifying with 8,924 pins, but it was #2 seed St. Francis (Ill.) that came out as champion of the eight-team match play competition.
On the individual side, Kaylee Back of Oklahoma Christian topped the 186 bowlers in the field with 1,913 pins (212.6 average).
Alexis Lake (Sr., Kaysville, Utah, Nursing) guided the navy and gold in the standings, starting all nine games and posting a 177.6 average.
Caitlin Radliff (So., Belleville, Ill., Software Engineering), who competed in seven rounds, actually managed the squad's top average at 193.0, including four games over 200.
Kelsey Aczon (Fr., Las Vegas, Nev., Nursing) was next at 174.8 in six games, while four athletes started five rounds.
Isabel Diaz (So., Kissimmee, Fla., Communications) was the leader of the quartet at 180.2, while Olivia Pilcher (Fr., Ottumwa, Iowa, Exercise Science) (166.8), Gabi Evans (Sr., West Liberty, Iowa, Psychology and Sociology) (166.0), and Cydnee Whiteleather (Jr., Lehigh Acres, Fla., Elementary Education) (163.8) were back-to-back-to-back in the standings.
Madison Ross (Sr., Charles City, Iowa, Exercise Science) wrapped up WPU's scoring with a 156.0 mark in three games.
Next Up: The Statesmen are currently finishing up their Las Vegas trip by competing in the Las Vegas Collegiate Shoot-Out Tuesday and Wednesday.
