Evans, Radliff on All-Tournament Team at Midwest Collegiate Championships

Wauwatosa, Wis.--Headlined by a pair of top-five individual finishes, the Statesmen women's bowling team placed in the top 10 at the Midwest Collegiate Championships Saturday and Sunday.

WPU finished ninth out of 35 teams with 8,411 pins in six regular games and 16 Baker games, just 27 pins away from qualifying for the bracket tournament.

Webber International won qualifying with 9,072 pins, but was defeated by #3 seed Wisconsin-Whitewater in the match play finals.

Linda Himes of Webber International led the 235 individuals in the field with a 220.0 average (1,320 pins).

Not far behind Himes, however, was the navy and gold duo of Gabi Evans (Sr., West Liberty, Iowa, Psychology and Sociology) and Caitlin Radliff (Jr., Belleville, Ill., Software Engineering).  Evans claimed runner-up honors at 206.0 (1,236 pins, three games over 200), while Radliff took home the bronze with a 204.3 clip (two games over 200, high of 265).

In her Statesmen debut, Sammantha Meyers (Jr., Rockford, Ill., Elementary Education) averaged 187.3 pins in four games, while Olivia Nolte (Sr., Atkins, Iowa, Elementary Education) (182.3) and Cydnee Whiteleather (Sr., Lehigh Acres, Fla., Elementary Education) (175.3) each also started four games.

Christy Mottier (Sr., Madison, Wis., Business Management) tallied a 161.3 mark in three rounds, while Madison Ross (Sr., Charles City, Iowa, Exercise Science) ended up at 167.0 over two games.  Kelcey Aczon (So., Las Vegas, Nev., Nursing) knocked down 164 in her lone game.

"This was not the outcome we were hoping for, but it was a good learning experience for everyone," Head Coach Kirstin Foster said.  "Each member of our team had great moments and each found something they can work on as well.  It was great to see the potential this team has, and now we will work to tap into that more consistently."

Next Up: William Penn takes a week off before traveling Wichita, Kan. October 21-22 to compete in the Mid-States Championship.
