
WPU Places 10th at Glenn Carlson LV Invite
Las Vegas, Nev.--The Statesmen women's bowling team landed in the top 10 as it started its Vegas trip at the Glenn Carlson Las Vegas Invitational Monday and Tuesday.
WPU finished 10th out of 32 teams with 8,218 pins in nine regular games, while Wichita State (Kan.) topped qualifying with 9,178 pins.
Wichita State completed the sweep of titles, defeating Ottawa (Kan.) 3-0 in the finals of the eight-team bracket competition.
Mary Orf of Wichita State was the best individual with a 221.3 average (1,992 pins), while Madison Ross (Sr., Charles City, Iowa, Exercise Science) headlined the navy and gold push with a 183.0 average in nine games (1,647 pins).
Sammantha Meyers (Jr., Rockford, Ill., Elementary Education) tallied the best average at 196.0 in eight starts, while Gabi Evans (Sr., West Liberty, Iowa, Psychology and Sociology) also started eight games with a 192.8 clip.
Caitlin Radliff (Jr., Belleville, Ill., Software Engineering) posted a 194.0 average in seven rounds, while Cydnee Whiteleather (Sr., Lehigh Acres, Fla., Elementary Education) (164.5) started six games and Lucy Mitchell (Fr., Poulsbo, Wash., Psychology) (165.0) started four games.
Christy Mottier (Sr., Madison, Wis., Business Management) averaged 159.0 pins in two starts and Kelcey Aczon (So., Las Vegas, Nev., Nursing) knocked down 138 pins in one game.
William Penn's JV team was in action as well and finished with 7,670 combined pins. Olivia Nolte (Sr., Atkins, Iowa, Elementary Education) was the top reserve roller with a 192.7 mark (1,734 pins).
