William Penn Earns Eighth Place in Glenn Carlson LV Invitational
Las Vegas, Nev.--The Statesmen women's bowling team delivered a strong performance to kick off its Las Vegas trip, finishing in the top 10 at the Glenn Carlson Las Vegas Invitational Wednesday and Thursday.
William Penn secured an impressive eighth-place finish out of 38 teams with a total of 7,630 pins across eight regular games. Mount Mercy led the field in qualifying with 8,370 pins.
In a dramatic quarterfinal matchup against Mount Mercy, the Statesmen nearly completed a reverse sweep. After dropping the first two games (166-193, 206-243), WPU rallied to claim the next two (224-204, 215-163). The thrilling series concluded in the fifth game, where WPU narrowly fell 195-175.
Mount Mercy went on to sweep the titles, defeating Saint Xavier 3-1 in the finals of the eight-team bracket competition.
Emily King of Milligan (Tenn.) was the best individual with a 226.1 average (1,809 pins), while Isabel Diaz (Sr., Kissimmee, Fla., Fine Arts) headlined the navy and gold with a 213.8 average in eight games (1,710 pins).
Caitlin Radliff (Sr., Belleville, Ill., Software Engineering) also excelled with a 203.3 average over eight games, while Samantha Meyers (Sr., Rockford, Ill., Elementary Education) averaged 176.5 pins in eight starts.
Olivia Nolte (Sr., Atkins, Iowa, Elementary Education) posted a 185.6 average in seven rounds, while Lucy Mitchell (So., Poulsbo, Wash., Psychology and Human Services) (207.0) and Kelcey Aczon (Jr., Las Vegas, Nev., Nursing) (151.3) each started three games.
Olivia Pilcher (Jr., Ottumwa, Iowa, Exercise Science) averaged 183.0 in two starts, while Danielle Fincham (So., Suprise, Ariz., Exercise Science) knocked down 142 pins in her lone round.
