Statesmen Upended by Benedictine

Atchison, Kan.--The William Penn women's soccer team was denied its first league victory in a 3-0 Heart of America Athletic Conference shutout loss to Benedictine Saturday.

The Statesmen (3-7-1, 0-5-1 Heart), who lost the shots battle 23-2, fell behind 1-0 in the fourth minute.

WPU stayed within striking distance through intermission, but was doubled up in the 53rd minute.  The Ravens (9-1-3, 4-0-2 Heart) capped the scoring in the 82nd minute.

Taylor Witthauer (Sr., Vancouver, Wash., Nursing) and Lilly Cote (So., Sioux City, Iowa, Education) each tallied a shot, while Madeline Danielson (Jr., La Crescent, Minn., Exercise Science) stopped six BC attempts Saturday.

Next Up: William Penn returns to Oskaloosa next Wednesday to face Mount Mercy in Heart play at 5 p.m.  The game will serve as Senior Night.
