Atchison, Kan.--The William Penn women's soccer team was denied its first league victory in a 3-0 Heart of America Athletic Conference shutout loss to Benedictine Saturday.
The Statesmen (3-7-1, 0-5-1 Heart), who lost the shots battle 23-2, fell behind 1-0 in the fourth minute.
WPU stayed within striking distance through intermission, but was doubled up in the 53rd minute. The Ravens (9-1-3, 4-0-2 Heart) capped the scoring in the 82nd minute.
Taylor Witthauer (Sr., Vancouver, Wash., Nursing) and Lilly Cote (So., Sioux City, Iowa, Education) each tallied a shot, while Madeline Danielson (Jr., La Crescent, Minn., Exercise Science) stopped six BC attempts Saturday.
Next Up: William Penn returns to Oskaloosa next Wednesday to face Mount Mercy in Heart play at 5 p.m. The game will serve as Senior Night.
