Statesmen Fall to Baker Despite Museler’s Strike

Oskaloosa--The William Penn women's soccer team battled but came up short Saturday, falling 3-1 to Baker in Heart of America Athletic Conference play.

The Statesmen (1-6-1, 0-4 Heart) stayed close on the stat sheet but were outshot 8-7 overall, with both teams placing three attempts on target.

Baker (3-3-2, 2-1-1 Heart) struck quickly, taking the lead in the sixth minute and doubling it less than 12 minutes later. Despite creating six first-half chances, William Penn couldn't find the finishing touch.

Opportunities were limited after the break, but the Statesmen capitalized on their lone shot. In the 75th minute, Anna Museler (Jr., Dresden, Germany, Engineering) pounced on a deflected ball and slotted it through a crowded box for her first goal of the season.

The Wildcats sealed the result in the final minute, with Naomi Harris-Hyche completing her hat trick to secure the win.

Museler led the attack with three shots, including two on goal.

Next Up: The Statesmen continue their homestand Wednesday with a 5 p.m. Heart matchup against Graceland at Drost Field.
