Batu-Tiako, Martin End Indoor Season at Nationals

Brookings, S.D.--William Penn women's track and field athletes Abigaille Batu-Tiako (Sr., Plattsburgh, N.Y., Business Management) and Erica Martin (Sr., Detroit, Mich., Sports Management) took on the best in the nation Friday and Saturday as they competed in the 44th Annual NAIA Indoor National Championship.

Batu-Tiako competed in Friday's long jump and fell short of the finals as she was 22nd with a mark of 17-1.25.

Martin battled in Saturday's shot put, taking 17th overall with a distance of 41-0.5.

"Both Erica and Abi had great indoor seasons," Head Coach Victoria Vinokur said.  "They both rose through the ranks throughout the campaign and getting to the national meet meant a lot to them.  This was the first time for both of them qualifying for the indoor championship and they left it all out there.  While it was not exactly what they were looking for, it was a great experience for them and made them even more ready to get after the outdoor season."
