WPU Face Challenges at Heart Championship

Maryville, Mo.--The William Penn women's track and field team concluded their indoor season with a 12th-place finish at the Heart Championship Friday and Saturday.

The Statesmen, who have been decimated by injuries, were limited to participation in just four events. Lilly Ostert (So., Madrid, Iowa) placed 13th in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.073 seconds, while Ellasa Horton (So., Waterloo, Iowa) finished 14th with a time of 8.076 seconds.

Roselaure Fuller (Sr., Pella, Iowa, Nursing) finished 15th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:39.31. Fuller also joined teammates Horton, Ellysse Johns (Fr., Houston, Texas), and Aaliyah Lopez (Fr., El Paso, Texas) in the 4x400-meter relay. The group placed 10th with a time of 4:38.10.

Avery Waterhouse (So., Olds, Iowa, Nursing) competed in the one-mile run as well, where she placed 13th in 6:50.81.

"Our ladies went out and raced with heart this weekend," Head Coach Victoria Vinokur said.  "Unfortunately, we have been plagued with injuries most of the season. We are focused on getting them ready to go for our outdoor season. "
