Statesmen Fall to Central Methodist in Final Dual of Year
Fayette, Mo.--The William Penn women's wrestling team notched two falls in a 27-10 Heart of America Athletic Conference dual meet loss to Central Methodist Thursday.
WPU (8-14, 1-5 Heart) came up short against the Eagles in its dual finale, but did get bonus-point victories at a pair of weights.
After both teams were open at 101 pounds, Rachel Cotter (Fr., Katy, Texas) gave the visitors the early 5-0 advantage by pinning Abigail Jastal in 2:44.
Unfortunately, the Eagles claimed victory in six consecutive matches to collect the team win.
Kylee Eastwood (Fr., Fontana, Kan., Undecided) finally stopped the proverbial bleeding at 170 pounds with a fall over 17th-ranked Shianne Whited in a time of 3:53. It was the squad's final points of the night.
Next Up: William Penn travels to Fremont, Neb. Saturday to compete in the Midland Warrior Open. Action begins at 10 a.m.
