
Quartet Ranked in Top Three at Respective Weights, WPU at No. 6 in NAIA
Oskaloosa--The William Penn women's wrestling team took a small hit as the NAIA released its fifth set of polls this week.
As a team, WPU dropped one spot nationally to sixth with 128 points. Life (Ga.) heads the nation with 229 points, while Grand View (206), Cumberlands (Ky.) (157), Southern Oregon (154), and Providence (Mont.) (150) wrap up the top five.
117-pounder Zao Estrada (Fr., Bluffton, S.C., Sociology) leads the way as she is ranked second, while the trio of 124-pounder Joanna Vanderwood (Sr., Graham, Wash., Nursing), 131-pounder Devin Patton (Jr., Plano, Texas, Business Management), and 138-pounder Kendall Bostelman (Jr., Napoleon, Ohio, Exercise Science) are all ranked third at their weight classes.
Isabelle Hawley (Jr., Winchester, Calif., Sociology) is next in 10th at 138 pounds, while 131-pounder Tyler Swanigan (Fr., Northville, Mich., Kinesiology) and 180-pounder America Lopez are both 12th. It marks the first time Swanigan has been ranked this season.
Lily Zapata (Fr., Lewisville, Texas, Sociology) is 14th at 103 pounds, while 180-pounder Grace Gray (Jr., Ankeny, Iowa, New Media) (17th), 160-pounder Alexa Wolf (Fr., Rogers, Ark., Business Management) (18th), and 145-pounder Naida Abdijanovic (Jr., St. Louis, Mo., Biology) (20th) are ranked nationally as well.
WPU continues to be second in the Heart of America Athletic Conference with 180 points; Grand View is on the top of the standings with 222 points.
Bostelman heads the 138-pound class, while Estrada, Vanderwood, and Patton are all second. Hawley, Wolf, and Lopez are third, with Zapata and Gray in fourth. Fifth-place rankings belong to Swanigan and Abdijanovic, while 124-pounder Catherine Steinkamp (Sr., Quincy, Ill., Exercise Science) is seventh.
