
William Penn Remains Third Nationally, Second in Heart
Oskaloosa--The Statesmen women's wrestling team will enter the postseason in the title hunt as the NAIA released its seventh and final set of polls this week.
WPU is again third in the country, now with 161 points. The squad's 11 individuals ranked in the top 20 also matches a school record.
The top five is unchanged as Life (Ga.) continues to be No. 1 with 224 points, while Grand View (198) is second. Providence (Mont.) (152) is fourth, while Cumberlands (Ky.) and Southern Oregon (151 points each) are tied for fifth.
Christianah Ogunsanya (Fr., Akure, Nigeria, Kinesiology) leads the charge as she remains No. 1 at 117 pounds.
Fellow 117-pounder Zao Estrada (Fr., Bluffton, S.C., Sociology) is third, while 124-pounder Joanna Vanderwood (Sr., Graham, Wash., Nursing) and 138-pounder Kendall Bostelman (Jr., Napoleon, Ohio, Exercise Science) are both fourth.
William Penn has made a significant lineup change with Esther Kolawole (Fr., Akure, Nigeria, Kinesiology) bumping up to 145 pounds for the postseason. The freshman enters the new weight class at No. 5.
131-pounder Devin Patton (Jr., Plano, Texas, Business Management) is sixth, while 180-pounder America Lopez (So., Val Verde, Calif., Psychology) is eighth.
103-pounder Lily Zapata (Fr., Lewisville, Texas, Sociology) and 138-pounder Isabelle Hawley (Jr., Winchester, Calif., Sociology) are both 10th; Hawley returns to the rankings for the first time since January 16.
160-pounder Alexa Wolf (Fr., Rogers, Ark., Business Management) (12th) and Catherine Steinkamp (Sr., Quincy, Ill., Exercise Science) (18th) are also rated nationally.
William Penn continue to close the gap in the Heart of America Athletic Conference. The Statesmen remain second, but have increased their total to 195 points, while GVU is still first in the league with 216 points.
WPU now has four individuals at No. 1 in the league with Ogunsanya, Bostelman, Kolawole, and Wolf all leading their respective weight classes.
Estrada and Vanderwood are in the runner-up position, while Zapata, Patton, and Lopez are third. Hawley and Naida Abdijanovic (Jr., St. Louis, Mo., Biology) both sit in fourth, while Steinkamp is seventh in a stacked 124-pound grouping.
