
Nine Named to NAIA Scholar-Athlete List
Oskaloosa--Nine members of the William Penn women's wrestling team were honored for their outstanding academic achievements, being named 2024-2025 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes recently.
Leading the way was Mathilde Gaumet (Sr., Bougey, France, Business Management), who posted an impressive 3.89 GPA as the spring semester began.
Right behind her was Naida Abdijanovic (Jr., St. Louis, Mo., Biology), with a strong 3.84 GPA, both surpassing the 3.8 mark.
Also excelling academically were Grace Gray (Jr., Ankeny, Iowa, New Media), with a 3.75 GPA, Catherine Steinkamp (Sr., Quincy, Ill., Exercise Science), at 3.72, and Grecia Martinez (Jr., Horizon City, Texas, Industrial Technology), with a 3.70 GPA, all maintaining exceptional academic standards above 3.7.
Following closely were Rachel Cotter (Jr., Katy, Texas, Public Accounting), with a 3.60 GPA, Devin Patton (Jr., Plano, Texas, Business Management), at 3.63, and Joanna Vanderwood (Sr., Graham, Wash., Nursing), with a 3.63 GPA.
Rounding out the list was Kylee Eastwood (Jr., Fontana, Kan., Undecided) with a 3.58 GPA, capping off a strong academic showing for the team.
Steinkamp received her third award, while Cotter and Martinez are being recognized for the second time. Gaumet, Abdijanovic, Gray, Patton, Vanderwood, and Eastwood are all first-time honorees.
To be eligible for the award, athletes must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale, have attended the nominating institution for one full year prior to nomination, and must appear on the sport's eligibility paperwork.
