Full Roster to Battle the NAIA’s Best at Nationals

Oskaloosa--The maximum number of William Penn women's wrestlers will take to the mats this weekend at the Third Annual NAIA Women's Wrestling National Championship Friday and Saturday.

The Championship, which will be held in Park City, Kan. at Park City Arena, will consist of four sessions, beginning with Session I on Friday at 10 a.m.

The finalized brackets were released Thursday and the following are the initial matchups for the navy and gold:

At 103 pounds, Olivia Atkins (So., St. Peters, Mo., Nursing), who is 9-12 on the year, will receive a first-round bye.  Unseeded, she will meet the winner of the match between No. 4 seed Karina Vang of Doane (Neb.) and Eyvori Jacquez of Saint Mary (Kan.) in the second round.

Also at 103 pounds, Lily Zapata (Fr., Lewisville, Texas, Sociology), who is 21-10 this season, will also collect a bye in the first round.  The freshman is unseeded and will then take on No. 3 seed Alexis Miller of Oklahoma City.

At 117 pounds, Christianah Ogunsanya (Fr., Akure, Nigeria, Kinesiology) is the No. 1 seed.  The owner of a 19-0 record, she will battle Callie Payton of Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) in the second round.

At 124 pounds, Joanna Vanderwood (Sr., Graham, Wash., Nursing) is the No. 3 seed and will wrestle Kadence Beck of Eastern Oregon in the opening round.  The senior comes into nationals with a 26-4 record.

Also at 124 pounds, Catherine Steinkamp (Sr., Quincy, Ill., Exercise Science) is unseeded with a 24-14 record.  She will face either No. 5 seed Rose Kaplan (Indiana Tech) or Ariana Martinez (Life-Ga.) in the second round.

At 131 pounds, Devin Patton (Jr., Plano, Texas, Business Management) is the No. 8 seed and is 31-8 overall.  The junior receives a bye in the first round before taking on either Annabelle Suto of Cumberlands (Ky.) or Ashlee Palimo of Doane (Neb.).

At 138 pounds, Kendall Bostelman (Jr., Napoleon, Ohio, Exercise Science) is 33-7 and is the No. 4 seed.  The junior is meeting up with Tabitha Wood of Hastings (Neb.) in the first round.

Also at 138 pounds, Isabelle Hawley (Jr., Winchester, Calif., Sociology) is 14-10 entering nationals.  She is unseeded and will face fellow unseeded wrestler Jaclyn Riedlinger of Avila (Mo.) in the first round.

At 145 pounds, Esther Kolawole (Fr., Akure, Nigeria, Kinesiology) is 18-0 this year and will be the No. 3 seed.  She meets Alivia Ming of Cumberlands (Ky.) in the first round.

Also at 145 pounds, Naida Abdijanovic (Jr., St. Louis, Mo., Biology) is unseeded with a 22-19 record.  She will collect a first-round bye before taking on either No. 4 seed Aevri Ciha of Doane (Neb.) or Sevreign Aumua of Missouri Valley.

At 160 pounds, Alexa Wolf (Fr., Rogers, Ark., Business Management) is unseeded and owns a 25-14 record.  After a first-round bye, she will face No. 6 seed Allyssa Johnson of Jamestown (N.D.).

At 180 pounds, America Lopez (So., Val Verde, Calif., Psychology) is seeded No. 7 and will wrestle unseeded Catherine McNulty of Indiana Tech in the first round.  She is 11-4 this season.
