The William Penn women's cross country team is geared for improvements as it readies for the 2023 season.
Caleb Drake, in his second year at the helm, is looking for his squad to move up from a 10th-place finish in last year's Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship.
Michaela Kmiec (Sr., Centerville, Texas., Exercise Science) will guide the Statesmen in her final campaign. The fifth-year senior had a top time of 21:25.3 in 2022.
Roselaure Fuller (Jr., Pella, Iowa, Nursing) has made great strides in the offseason and is expected to be another force for WPU at the top. Her best time from last fall was 22:50.8.
Ameline Garza (So., Edinburg, Texas, Sociology), with a top time of 21:55.3, is also returning to bolster the Statesmen lineup.
Incoming freshmen Charlotte Hele (Fr., Apple Valley, Calif., Undecided) and Briana Admire (Fr., Galesburg, Ill., Nursing) are expected to both crack onto the varsity in their first collegiate seasons.
Schedule/Conference
William Penn begins the campaign Friday in Cedar Rapids at the Corridor Clash.
The schedule is a combination of smaller, regional meets and larger meets against some of the best groups in the NAIA. The Statesmen are picked to finish ninth with Benedictine expected to win the conference crown.
